Rose Marie Ahrens is a registered member of The British Psychological Society, The Register of Play and Creative Arts Therapists, UK, Play Therapy International (PTI) and The Association for Play Therapy, USA. She has a UK Master's degree in Education and Development.

 

Rose Marie has been working for over 30 years with children, their families and communities, in the field of education assessment, education therapy and basic education consultancy. She has extensive experience in local and international school systems and advising bilateral and multilateral educational aid programmes in multiple cultural settings in South East Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe. She speaks and understands several languages: English, German, French, Mandarin, Bahasa Melayu and Kiswahili. 

Rose Marie identifies herself as a multicultural member of the global community. 

Rose Marie Ahrens was nominated by her peers and the Frankfurt International School parent community in 2020 and 2021 for the Mark E. Ulfers Award for outstanding service and leadership. 

 

Rose Marie is an accredited Play and Creative Arts Therapist providing services to children and adolescents. She is also an experienced registered and certified Filial Play Coach/Mentor. She coaches/mentors parents to be agents of change in their children's lives building stronger connections with their children.

 

Rose Marie is an experienced registered and certified Senior PTI Clinical Supervisor. She clinically supervises Play and Creative Arts therapists, trainees in child psychotherapy and other helping professionals, so that they are empowered to journey with their clients and/or their students into wellbeing. 

Rose Marie is a qualified and UK certified online counsellor. She provides online Play and Creative Arts therapy, Filial play coaching/mentoring and clinical supervision services on a case to case basis.

 

Rose Marie has ongoing clinical supervision with a qualified senior PTI Clinical Supervisor, that safeguards her wellbeing and that of her clients and supervisees. She has regular continuing professional development in the field of play and creative arts therapy.

Rose Marie abides by the Ethical Framework for Play Therapy and Filial Play and Professional Conduct Procedure and Equality and Diversity policy outlined by PTI.​

Belief & Practice

Rose Marie believes in the sanctity of all persons and their inherent right to unconditional positive regard. She believes that in an environment of genuineness and empathy all persons can attain personal growth and understanding of self.  This in turn creates resilient healthy families and communities.

She is a stong proponent of Carl Rogers' humanistic non-directive approach. She adheres to Axline's Principles of play therapy in her practice.
